Need some ideas

Hello,

Im attempting to build a photo upload script, and id like users to be able to assign tags to their photos.

So, my question is .. How would i go about this in mySQL ... The 2 options ive thought about are.

table photos
photo_id
photo_filename
tags

but, if another user wanted to add tags to the photo, then, i see a problem being able to attach tags onto the tags field that way.

The other option is to create a table just for photo tags, using the photo_id as the key

table photo_tags
photo_id
tags

so Im wondering if anyone see's any better options or has done somthing similar to this?

You have the right idea:

table photo_tags
tag_id
user_id
photo_id
tags

Might work better that way you can attach the tag to a specific user (if thats what you want to do) You can also add a field active to create a history if you want users to modify it. But you are on the right track. Keep 3FN
