best way to store images?

hi guys, just starting off with mysql+php.

i'm making a website about hotels in france. i use mysql to keep the hotel data (descriptions,rooms,reviews,etc..). now i need of course to have a few pictures of the hotels. what is the best way to do this? should i use mysql? any tips?

To the best of my knowledge you are better off storing the images in a directory on the server and storing a path to that image in MySQL, binaries slow down the database. The paths can then be brought into your pages with simple SQL statements. Use a sorting field and some sort of identifier to keep the right pictures with the right descriptions.

Yea...agreed, just have a form that uploads the file to a common directory and store the file information in the database. You will want to check for duplicate file names so that they cant accidently be overwritten. Delete and edit functions are also helpful.
