I am working with raw email. In email when a word of the body is to be continued on the next line, the word is truncated by =.

Where $body = the text above:
echo preg_replace('/=\n/', '', $body);
Results in:
Hey, whats up? This is a sample txt message that should be saved as such! L=ater
Its like its ignoring the =. I don't believe = is a special character. However I tried this with the same result:
echo preg_replace('/\=\n/', '', $body);
