Return data from 2 set dates ><

Hi guys,

I am trying to get results from 2 dates lets say 2006-01-01 and 2006-02-20

SELECT COUNT(*) AS userCount FROM jcbUsers WHERE visCount=1 WHERE visDate > $lastDate AND visDate < $newDate

The query returns no results but i know that to be false.
Would it have anything to do with the visDate DB field being set to "date"

It returns 0 rows of data//

Got it sorted,
forgot to add quotes
