Hi,

I am trying to install the above bulletin board. However my hosters have decided to stop the mail() code from working.

So I need to use SMTP to be able to send messages to subscribers that they have to activate their accounts etc.

My ISPs SMTP requires Authentication and there is not an option to turn this on in the configuration panel of phpBB.

Can anyone help me as I still can't send confirmation emails etc.

Typically sending email internally on a web host does not require authentication. If you are using a public URL for the mail server, try using "localhost". I'm assuming you are using the smtp server on your web host.

My host has disabled smtp!!

I am trying to use my ISPs smtp server, and having very little joy at the moment.!

phpBB gives you the option to use your own SMTP server, if you have an ISP they gave you an SMTP account just use it, In the e-mail option of phpBB that section is at the very bottom of your ACP in the General Configuration under configuration, just provide the same stuff you use on your local machine for your e-mail client then you ought to be able to send confirmation and all using your own account.
