Alternative to mail () in PHPNuke

I use phpNuke 7.8 on a free webhost who has disabled the SMTP. Is there a way of getting all the functionality of phpNuke by modifying/using some alternative mail function, considering I'm more or less a PHP illiterate?

Or should I just find another free PHP webhost?
