stopping a process with php/mysql

Hi There,

So I have a php page which starts a query which can take a while. I can even close the window and the process will continue to run. What I'd like to be able to know is:

1. what was the process ID I just initiated so I can also store that in a DB
2. how could I use php to kill that specific process on some other page

This is the first time I've really needed to manage mysql process threads. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I dont think that what you want is possible. PHP is a multi-platform scripting language. What you want is probably ment for an Unix/Linux or FreeBSD/OpenBSD system because they work with process-id's.

Though Windows OS'en don't have these functionality. PHP must be able to act on multiple platforms the same way, Besides that i dont it would be safe that a scripting language could have those functionality.
