Website Bot protection

I have a website on localhost for the time being. And i want to create a simple registration page. I got the db and login page working. befor i start writing the code i need something to stop automation bots from automatically creating accounts.

I will be putting in a email activation part but i would like a system where the user has to copy number/text from a img for verifcation. Does any 1 know where i can get 1.

I wrote an article that describes just how to do this. It hasn't been posted yet (don't know why) but it should be soon. Perhaps Monday or tomorrow Scott will get it up here.

This is known as a CAPTCHA. I advise you not to use one unless you KNOW you're going to have a problem with bots registering.

There are lots of other methods of discouraging bots from registering without using a CAPTCHA. These methods aren't as reliable, but are easier (and easier for humans).
