I am checking on a hosting company's package.
Virtual Dedicate Hosting?
They have the virtual dedicate hosting package and claim their physical server is top of the line. The virtual dedeicate server has more space, ram, and brandwidth than a physical server I am using now.
So virtual dedicate hosting of a top line physical server vs. an average physical server, what is pro or con here?
Plesk?
The server pre-installed with Plesk, if I update mysql, curl etc., will that affect Plesk? or the plesk will limit my freedom of install 3rd party application package?
Years ago, I was using Cobalt Raq 550, Cobalt User interface was on an old php version, and we either use the old php or we update php but lose the guarantee that the cobalt user interface will be working, or its future update patches will work. I updated the php anyway.
Now I am managing the server from Unix shell. But my client or my graphic designer lose the web access user interface which they need to do some web management works, so i have to do everything on the server. But with Plesk, that will solve the problem. But I don't know if Plesk will limit my freedom to update crucial stuff on the server.
PHP performance?
They also claim that their server is with enhanced php performance, what exactly the technology behind that?
Thanks!
