login script

Hi I'm new to php and the forum but I was wondering if anybody could help me with a login script for my internal web site. Basicly all I want to do is have someone type in a user name and password and depending on their user profile redirect them to a home page. I also need help setting user levels for example I would be a super as an admin, but what are the other levels.
Any help will be great!!!!!!!

First off, how are you planing to store usernames and passwords. In a database, a textfile or in the php files its self

I was planning on using mysql, so i could further challenge myself. I really need a push in the right direction.

I suggest you goto www.hotscripts.com, they have a very large php scripts and tutorials. If i went throught it step by step it could take a long time. Sorry about not responding sooner, just got a black out
