Search Help with multiple words only?

Hello,

I am new to the forum and PHP and need help with a search function on my auction website. I don't know if this can be done, but any help would be appreciated.

Simply put I want the search to produce only the results with Every word in the search requested.

For example. If a user types in 2005 Barry Bonds. (This is a sports auction site) 🙂 I only want the query to produce auctions that have <b>all</b>3 words in them in any order. As it stands I get results with 2005 and barry and bonds. I need to narrow the search.

I hope that makes since? Again I am a newbie and if someone could give me help or point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

are you using mySQL? if so look at Full-Text searching

Yes,

I am using mySQL. I have read that article and still can not figure things out. I believe this is the code that calls the search.

$query = "SELECT * FROM probid_auctions WHERE MATCH (itemname) AGAINST ('".$_REQUEST['keywords']."' in boolean mode) AND deleted!=1 AND listen!='store' AND active!=0";

The problem I am having is that I get every resultfrom every word.

For example I have 5 auction titles.

2005 Topps Barry Zito
2004 Topps Barry Bonds
2005 Upper Deck Barry Bonds
2005 Topps Mark McGwire
2004 Fleer Bonds

If my customer types in 2005 Topps Bonds he will get 1,2,3,4,5 as results. Because one of those words is always present. What I need it to do is produce only #2 as a result.

Again, I am really new to this so any help would be appreciated.
