Please Explain Text Format Codes (\n \r)

Hi Everyone,

I am new to PHP but not programming in general.

What does \r mean?

I know that \n = newline \t = tab.

Also, can someone provide me a link that explains the rest of the codes.

Sounds like you are new to the old ASCII character set. Search the web concerning ASCII newline, the wikipedia article should be good enough.

First of all, a new line in the OLD ASCII is chr(10), a carriage return is chr(13).
My question was about \r[\b]. There is no reference to \r[\b] in ASCII tables.

I've checked the site you mentioned. It has the Ascii table and some other stuff but no reference to my question. It does have a nice reaction timer game on it.

My question stills stands for the moment. What does \r[\b] mean?

That applies to Python, not necessarily to PHP. Read the PHP Manual for PHP, and the Python docs for Python.

I did try to search for them in the PHP.net site but didn't look under STRINGS.

I can now understand what you meant in your first post Laserlight. The codes are a pseudonym for the ascii code.
