Can't Get PHP Files To Open

I'm trying to learn php and I can't get the files to open when I save them as .php, I have php installed on my computer with mysql and still can't open the files.

You need to associate a program with .php files. Just open them with Wordpad or Notepad or any other text editor. if youre on windows, double click on a PHP file, click 'Select the program from a list', then OK, and then select Wordpad from the list that comes up.

Do you mean you can't open them in your browser? I'll bet you do.

Of course you can't just open them, they are not client-side files, they need a webserver to process them.

Get one of the integrated WAMP/XAMP installs and then you'll be cooking. Or get one of the IDEs like PhpDesigner that will process the code and display the results.

I installed php and mysql on my computer so i don't need upload them to a browser. I don't want to have to keep uploading the files. ill try wamp to in install it.
