Best MYSQL Data Access?

Hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone had, or knew of a good MYSQL dataaccess layer for PHP.

I am using the smarty templating system, which mainly handles arrays and such so if anyone has any ideas I would love the help/advice

I like PEAR:db - it does a good job of isolating the code from the database, so that you can easily change database etc should you need to.

Well, I used my own-made utility, as it is best for me due to ready-to-use code (CSS classes of entities, ready to inherit within my workframe, etc.). But it doesn't work now, after I updated my OS...

I found phpCodeGenie, looks well, althoutgh I couldn't evaluate it in use yet.

If using PHP 5.1 or above, I'd suggesting using PDO
