Separating Code from Content??

I have been working with php for a short time now and have a somewhat finished project. However, much of this came from php3 days and much of my content is embedded with the php with print statements and/or <? //print the html. YUK!

The code itself has been edited to PEAR standards in regards to no tabs, registered vars and whatnot but I know that it is still messy, newbie, lame etc... Do you suggest that I separate HTML forms/content into libraries and include them within the php? Upon my newbie experience it appears as though I do not escape quotes in html when using them as an include, true??...

I have read into this and have seen mixed reviews and even more mixed code which confuses me further as to good style.

i'm the worse for this... i never use to leave comments until recent, because after going back to projects after a couple of months i just end up sitting there like a veg wondering what the hell most of it all means 😃

I do like to indent my code, and try to close of php "?>" when entering in a lot of content then start php again "<?" as appose to using the print/echo statment.

Although this can mess the design view up, and screw around to much the layout when designing one.

My biggest problem, i'm self teached, so have way to many bad habbits.

You could use a template engine, like Smarty, that's what I use for html templates ...

You should look into reading up on MVC (Model View Control)
It's a great method to apply to any type of "template" system you will ever use in any programming environment.
