HTTP_REFERER Alternatives?

Hi there,

I'd like to track the referring page to my site, but given the problems with HTTP_REFERER (unreliability / potential spoofing), I'm wondering what alternatives are out there?

Are you referring with a banner or a link? If you are using a banner, you could use the banner graphic as a submit button in a form, and have inside the form a hidden variable with your referrer code. Not sure it would necessarily cut down on spoofing though...
