[RESOLVED] Removing www. from email

Alot of my users are adding www. to their email when they signup, and id like to silently remove this if its the case

$string = '[e-mail]'

if(eregi('www.',$string)) echo "yes";

This doesnt work, and im wondering where i went wrong? Ive been up for a long time, and im probably just over looking somthing, so please dont bash me if its somthing easy.

Then if i find a match i could just use substr to start at the 4th place in the string, removing the www., easy.

i cant believe myself .. i forgot the semicolon on the end of the string variable.
