How do I extract the meta data from an uploaded JPG file in PHP?

Hi guys,

I'm writing a program for my dad which lets him upload his photos (he's a photographer) to his web site and display them in a gallery. His camera (Canon EOS-300D if that matters) adds all kinds of information about how the photo was taken to the meta data of the JPG files it creates. How can I extract that when the file is uploaded so that it can be edited and stored in a database?

That requires Exif functions. Check out http://www.php.net/exif in the manual
