socket '/var/db/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

I'm just uploading a site to a new hosting company, and i get this error
socket '/var/db/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
I know my script is sound as it runs fine local and on my usual server, from googling it, it appears that it may be an problem server side, can anyone help?

Is that the WHOLE error, or part of it?

Here is the whole error message
Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /hsphere/local/home2/grace/graceccmachurch.org/filled/admin/classDbManager.php on line 37
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/db/mysql/mysql.sock' (2), and like i said the script does work on 2 other servers.

Are the mysql server and web server on the same host? If not, you'll need to define tcp/ip connection (i.e. a host name) in the connect() function. If they are, then it's possible your php server is miscofigured and is looking in the wrong place for the local socket.

Thanks very much i'll look into that, I assume they i'll have to get intouch with them.

probably. First I'd try connecting through tcp/ip sockets instead of local unix sockets. If you set a host parameter (like localhost, or the name of the box, or the ip, say 10.10.1.199 or something (it has to be the actual IP, not one you made up. hehe)) and that works, then just use that and go for it.
