Handling multiple quotes

I understand that in PHP you can mix double and single quote:

echo "address = 'address location' ";

But what can you do when there are cases where more than two levels of quotes are necessary?

echo "address = '<a href='http://www.site.com'>link</a>' ";

Escape the quotes that are also used as PHP's string delimiters:

echo "address = '<a href=\"http://www.site.com\">link</a>' ";
// or
echo 'address = \'<a href="http://www.site.com">link</a>\' ';
