Get next and previous from array

Hi, Here is my array...

$array = array("Dog","Cat","Horse","Pig","Sheep","Lion");

Now I would like to know what is next and before a certain animal.
Such as if I were to choose Pig.. I want to know what is before and then
after it.... Horse & Sheep in this example. Please let me know how I would
go about doing this.
