The "if" statement?

I'm farely new at this but im trying to make a page which gets data from db when i click on differnt links?

Expl. In my db table I have these fields (1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b, 2c, 3a, 3b, 3c). On my page i have 3 links "1" "2" "3".

Now when i click on the link "1" i want to get the data from (1a, 1b, 1c) in 3 fields.
When i click on the link "2" i want in the same fields and on the same page (refresh) the data (2a, 2b, 2c)

How can this be done?

Sounds like a problematic table design.

What are a, b, and c? You probably need more than one table to do this right.

Let me explain. Lets say that I have a Golf Course with 18 holes. Now each hole has differnet data. In my database table i have these fields. hole1_yellow, hole1_red, hole2_yellow, hole2_red, etc. etc. Now on my page i have a link to each holde (hole 1, hole 2, etc. etc) Now i want to whenever i hit a link to get the data for each link refering to the hole in my db on the samepage. I hope i made it more clearly.

i definitely agree with laserlight... the table structure really leaves somewhat to be desired, however, if you must use it as it is, something like this may help:

$num = isset($_GET['x']) ? $_GET['x'] : 1; // default to '1' if nothing is selected

// assuming you already have your query results in $sql variable:
while ($x = mysql_fetch_array($sql))
  echo "$x[{$num}a], $x[{$num}b], $x[{$num}c]<br />\n";

I might suggest that you redesign your database to say:

Table: courses
course_id
... // other fields

Table: holes
hole_id
course_id
number
colour
... // other fields

Now you can write a query such as:

SELECT * FROM holes WHERE holes.number=1 AND course_id=1;

where course_id=1 means the golf course with course_id=1 in the courses table.

Of course, this is just an example. I am not too familiar with golf, and you may have more requirements that make this design incomplete.
