windows apostrophe and quotes

hi all...

does somebody know how to replace the f-ing windows quotes and apostrophe to a normal double quotes or single quote in a file using php?

after a file gets uploaded to a server i need to replace them all. i know about the chr() but once the file is uploaded the apostrophe looks like: \xd5 in hex and i'm not sure what number to use in chr() to replace it. is chr() going to work if its trying to replace hex?

I didn't know windows had different quotes and apostrophes... that's news to me...

You could always do a quick str_replace:

$name = str_replace("\xd5", "'", str_replace("the other hex value", '"', $filename));

Then just rename the file with the new name....
