Why Php usage is decreasing

Hi All,

Good Morning.

If we observe the following url

http://www.php.net/usage.php

the php usage graph now is in downfall.

What is the reason behind it?

lol, that graph doesnt show that at all, it just displays a high peak, and the what looks like a level out.

I wouldnt read to much in to that, unless after another 6 moths it a continious drop. which is far from evident as yet.

If you look at the Apache module report for March you find amongst Apache servers:

PHP 5,429,848
Python 244,219

PHP is the most popular

Your using a link which actually contradicts your thread subject, PHP is actually on the increase. 😃

Perhaps because this survey measures the amount of Apache servers which are claiming to have PHP installed - this may be decreasing because people no longer have the ServerTokens option enabled in Apache which gives this information out.

Additionally if expose_php = off in php.ini, then it won't add its own headers anyway.

My guess is that newer systems (i.e. commercial Linuxes etc) now ship with this turned off.
