My point is that people always make the distinction between "PCs" and "Macs". A PC is a "Personal Computer". A Mac is a "Personal Computer" - Its not a mainframe, its not an embedded system, its not a portable device. Just because Mac is a brand which uses specific hardware, doesn't mean they are not PCs. Dell also use a small subset of hardware componentry in their systems; should we stop classifying them as PCs and call them simply "Dells"? And with Macs recent switch to Intel chips - the distinction is becoming even blurrier.
But...splitting hairs.
I dont know about Mac selling "more" - I haven't seen the current PC vs Mac usage statistics. I do know they are gaining in popularity - maybe thats what you meant in the first place. I think a lot of it has to do with their portable devices. The iPod massively boosted their popularity - Many once die-hard PC fans have bought iPods - many of those have probably gone and bought a Mac because they like the products. And they DO make quality products. They also have the fundage for massive marketing campaigns. When was the last time you saw an iRiver or Creative Zen commercial (I've seen neither) ?
So who knows. Probably a bit of both.
