[RESOLVED] PHP does not work

I've installed Apache 2.0 on my home computer and when i do http://locakost
i can see the HTML
c:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2

I've downloaded PHP4.4
c:\PHP

and when I do

<?php
echo "Hello World";
?>

I see it like that not as
Hello World

what is wrong?

Your php has not been set up properly have you set your php.ini properly? And also let Apache know where PHP lives?

Thought this was the problem... what part of the .ini file do i need to change... how to i tell apache where php is?

Which OS are you using Windows, Linux or MAC? It looks like windows from your directory. The Manual for a Windows install is Windows Install

I manually installed Apache 1.3 PHP3 and an older MySQL a few years ago, andit was a hassle, even with reference material. Then I found XAMPP downloaded it and ran the install and 5 minutes later I was writing code. Tha would be my suggestion. Even if you are very good at following instructions it takes a while to properly set up PHP with Apache. With XAMPP I now run 2.0.3 PHP 5.1.1 and MySQL 5.0.18 Perl a mailserver and a FTPserver, total install time after download about 5 minutes. Hi! I got the same problem, but with a twist. My website is shared-hosted at Godaddy.com and so I could not do the same resolution. To cut it short, all my web files (both php and html), except for index.htm itself, would end up "The page cannot be found" even when they are in my webhosting directory. Also, if I embed-in any php commands in the index.htm, they never got executed.

I do not want to call godaddy as yet, as for this week alone, I had spent 90 minutes of overseas call and end up not solving anything. Godaddy's email support also never got answered in 48 hours or even in 240 hours. Furthermore, I would want to believe that they have not configured Apache wrongly.

Please guide me.

create this file and call it info.php

Upload it to your server and acces the same as you would by typeing your host for the index,htm or html like http://myaddress.godaddy.com/info.php and if you just see what is typed as it is typed then you don't have PHP support, I do not know about go daddy as to wether they offer PHP and MySQL.

As noted, no file other than index.htm is now accessible, not even if I create www.khrystels.com/info.php. (khrystels is my domain, by the way). Somehow, the server seems to recognize only www.khrystels.com/index.htm coz www.khrystels.com/index.php that has exactly the same content would not work.

Godaddy supports PHP and MYSQL. Just 11 days ago, www.khrystels.com/info.php would work just fine. MYSQL database also would work. www.khrystels.com/index.php would execute and it could also call up other php files using the statement require("addtolist.php").

I could program in PHP and MYSQL but not familiar with server configurations yet. I was hoping to pinpoint the problem before I call Godaddy again to avoid big call charges.
