[RESOLVED] code gone rotten bananas

this doesnt work.. it does popup the window for download but its doesnt download anything as if the path isnt right.. though if you put the above link in the address bar it does work.. so why has this code gone rotten bananas... any clues?
i tried using the exact path as php is installed on windows c:\wwwroot\andstuff
and still didnt work

help in this regard would be highly appretiated

If you are using a window path it would be C:\wwwroot\somefolder\wherever\thefile.txt
because you have to escape the excape by using double backslashes.

The first head has a line break on the end... it shouldn't. In the second header, I believe the filename is supposed to be surrounded in quotes.

Ok just to make things easy to try out i installed IIS and installed php on it... and used to above code to check the same thingy... and it doesnt work :S i mean heLLOO!!! please Mr.Code dont bug me that much lol

can you guys please look at this.. coz the link is right... i checked it ... everything is fine here [in regards with the link to the file]... any comments? or anyother way to work out to it :S

Paths on Windows use back slashes so

$pathy = "c://inetpub//wwwroot/";

is not valid to windows it should be

c:\inetpub\wwwroot\

and most likely you will have to escape the backslash so if the above does not work you would use

c:\\inetpub\\wwwroot\\

ok ahmm fixed that but tht still isnt enough maybe :S still it just popups but the file it downloads is like 2.83kb or something like tht..

ok this part of it got fixed anyway now whats missing is the left over part... i want to limit the no. of downloads/ip
so i add the ip of the person to the database before sending headers.... so tht adds to the database now how to check what the person did with that popup.. did he cancel it or clicked on save... if cancel than remove the ip from the database.... and if clicked save...than remove it once the download is complete... to remove at the end of the download i used feof($file) but that doesnt appear to help either... it doesnt remove the ip entry from the database

and yeh offcourse thanks to all those who have helped me this far
