Hi all, I'm looking for some advice ... got a need for a script, and I'm wondering if there's an existing open-source solution somewhere that does what I need ...
I want to be able to allow users to create "groups" of friends, and easily send an email/post a message/etc. so that only those friends can see it. They should be able to add new friends to the group, invite, remove, etc. All groups should be private, except to members (in other words, there should not be a holistic list of groups for browsing anywhere - someone coming to the site would need to be invited to the group to get access)
A bulletin board/forum isn't quite right, because (a) setting permissions would be a pain, and (b) if the number of users got large, the board would be unnecessarily big.
An auction or classified script seems like one way to let people post to categories, but again fails the test for large number of groups.
Any thoughts on this? I'd love to avoid custom coding, but if that's what it takes ... I welcome your advice.
