Is this Possible?

Well i have a script that needs to be visited by URL (like browsing that specific adress of where the script is located) in order to update files on the entire site! Now is there a way i can make it do that like periodically with out anyone going to that specific URL adress and doing it manaully, but instead it will do it lets say every Hour in the server itself?

Ahh nice, seems like the cro job is what im looking for but the example is only for mailing, how do i do it by url adress?

well, when you set up your cron, you'd have to use the system path to the script you want to run.

So you can run any script you want, and use the local system path (not the URL) to point to that script.

That example isn't for mailing. MAILTO=username@host just means that when cron runs, you'll get an email letting you know your command has been run. The command in the example is whatever is inside scriptname.cgi. It could be anything. You can still run a command with a url. If you're server has it, use curl or wget. A line like this will run your script every minute and e-mail you the result. If you don't want the result e-mailed, change MAILTO="" or add > /dev/null to the end of the line below assuming your using a unix type server.

* * * * * curl http://yourhost.com/yourscript.php
