Installing Apache

This might seem a stupid question but i am trying to install apache onto my windows xp pro machine and have got to the following page

Server Information

where it asks for your network domain and server name what are these??? My ISP is ntl is it something to do with that??

Just put in localhost.

Cheers for that i have now got that bit working and the Apache default page loads up when i type in http://localhost/

However i am now stuck as to where i should put my files so i can see them.

Before when i used windows IIS i use to store my pages in this file

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\PHP

but now when i use these pages i get this error

Not Found
The requested URL /php/date.php was not found on this server.

where should i now store these pages so i can see them on my localhost

Apache uses the htdocs folder look in the Apache folder for it there or just do a disk search for that folder. Or Thepage you are looking at is the index.html in the htdocs folder.

hes on XP, there is no HTDOCS... its whatever the document_root directive is set to in his httpd.conf file

yes i am on IIS but i have found that folder and it seems to work.

But now my php pages don't work.

So i have reinstalled php and now got this error message half way through the installation

apache httpd.conf file can not be automaticly configured do it manually

What dose that mean i have to do??

There is a htdocs directory created on a default install of Apache(2) on Windows XP, but either way looking at DocumentRoot in httpd.conf is best.
