[RESOLVED] SESSION Nitemare on forms (I don't know why I can't retain my data anymore?)

Hi All,

I have made many php forms and never had a problem with it retaining the form data on either a back button or 'javascript:history.go(-1)' until now?!

This page is a mess (so I apologize up front) I have tried about 10 different methods suggested, so my code is a mix of techniques right now.

Here is a form that I did not have to use sessions and when you hit the back button, all the data is there.

My new form was identical, except for, obviously, the questions and buttons/checkboxes. Otherwise, it used the same exact method.

I am totally at a loss on why the Good_Form.php page worked and why now nothing works for my new page.

You will see where I tried ...

<input type="text" tabindex="2" size="40" name="FirstName" value="<?=$_SESSION["FirstName"]?>">

But that was hit or miss and will not work for my drop-down menus with multiple 'value='.

I stripped out all the Java and junk in the header of this form and posted a PHP page with just the form here. and I can hit back and save the data????

I resolved this, I think...

I made a new form with only the form data, none of the Java script and it worked.

It saved all the data and I did not have to use any sessions.

So I added my Java back in, and it still worked (?)

The only difference I could see, was the non-working form just had <html> in the code and the working version had ..

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

So I added that and now it works?

Oh well.
