Need Help to Retrieve Data from mySQL

Hello,

I am totally green in PHP and have recently bought a script which I hope to modify to suit my requirements.

I am trying to use a SEARCH button with 'built-in' conditons to call up data. Try the search function but as it requires a form to work, it does not suit my needs. What I am looking at is for my visitor to click on a button and the results are displayed.

Can anyone advise me how to go about doing it? Am I right to say that I can use the GET function? How do I code it?

You will have to have a form with at least two elements a text box for them to enter a term or phrase and the button and you can use the $_GET variable to search something a flat file or a datbase? Don't know what you mean about bult in conditions. Why don't you show the script you have, and when posting it either manually enter [ PHP ] in front of the code and [ /PHP ] after the code or paste the code then select it with your mouse and then click the ~ BB Code button right next to the <>.
