Select and then Insert?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure a simple query out but for some reason I can't think of how to do it? :mad: It's been a while since I've played with the two and I couldn't even find anything on Google either.

What I'm trying to accomplish is fairly simple... I'm trying to Integrate a vBulletin board user table with another software projects Table.

So I'm trying to figure out how to pull all the user table out of the other software table and insert the username, id, password, etc into the other table.

Can I get some examples from someone? It would be very appreciated! Thanks! 🙂

just SELECT * FROM table1 THEN INSERT INTO table2 (fields) VALUES (col1, col2)

If you're using MySQL5 and the table structure is quiet simliar between the systems, you could try to create a view that translates the fields into the version expected by the other one. As long as you don't use aggregate functions, then you should be able to make the view updatable, thus it'll act like the table that doesn't actually exist.
