[RESOLVED] Using Value from Database

Hi all,

Why do I always get a Yes value for $centralised_price below even when centralised_priced in the Database Table has a value of 'No'??

Still gives a blank.

For some reason this works but don't know why this does and above doesnt...

$centralised_price = ($row['centralised_priced'] === 'Yes') ? 'checked' : 'unchecked';
echo '<h1>'.$centralised_price.'</h1>';

my example will output a blank string if the 'centralised_priced' field does not equal "Yes" or "No". are all of the values in the table one or the other?

incidentally, this obviously looks like you are trying to store a simple boolean. what field type are you using? i typically use a CHAR(1) field that is either "Y" or NULL.

Field type is CHAR.

Default set to 'No'

Hi guys, this is still wrecking my head.

Here's my if else statements again...

echo '<p>Centr:'.$row['centralised_priced'].'</p>';
echo '<p>Fund:'.$row['fund_of_fund'].'</p>';

$centralised_priced = ($row['centralised_priced'] == 'Yes') ? 'checked' : 'unchecked';
echo '<h1>1)'.$centralised_priced.'</h1>';

$fund_of_fund = ($row['fund_of_fund'] == 'Yes') ? 'checked' : 'unchecked';
echo '<h1>2)'.$fund_of_fund.'</h1>';

Prints off...

Centr:Yes
Fund:No

1) Unchecked
2) Unchecked

And my DB Table...

fund_of_fund CHAR 10
centralised_priced CHAR 10

Any ideas on why this doesnt work?

Changed CHAR to VARCHAR and it works now.
