FC4 + MySQL + PHP

I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. I have FC4 running with Apache and MySQL.

I am running latest of all. I used Yum to install. FC4 is running text mode only.

I am using a php based content management system but PHP is not talking to MySQL.

I'm hoping someone can help me get PHP to talk with MySQL. I have tried to install PHP-MySQL which I understand enables the support. Yum tells me is installed and wont do it again.

If you can help I would appreciate it. Do i need to uninstall PHP and re-install it? Can I use yum to do this and set a switch to configure PHP to work with MySQL?

i am hoping I dont need to uninstall and reinstall so if thats an option please let me know. I have spent about 2 weeks trying to find a guide on how to do this with no luck. Somethings I have found offer no explain on how in the detail I need.

my skill level is slightly better than newbie so if you can help out at that level I'd appreciate is

Have you tried restarting apache?

you may need to edit the php.ini file and make sure the php-mysql.so is enabled and ... well basically, do a quick search in the php.ini file for all the mysql stuff and make sure its not commented out, and make sure that the ports, sockets and dirs are correct. After you've done that, and if you made changes, restart apache.

I think this gets me closer. The php reference to mysql.so is there but the extension directory that php.ini refers to does not contain that actual file.

I need to track it down and work out if I can move it into that folder. My extension folder is this:

extension_dir = "/usr/lib/php/modules"

and that folder does not contain mysql.so. I will track it down and see how close that gets me.

I am running into the same problem, would be grateful if u can tell me what to do, should there really be anything in the /usr/lib/php/modules folder?

if so where do I find the mysql extention?
