the tab character issues

I have a datafeed I parse and insert into a db every morning, have for months. The datafeed is tab delimited.

I recently moved to a new server...old one was php 4.4.1 and the new one is 4.4.2.

I have always parsed the data with the ol' explode("\t",$string); thing...but now, on the new server, it is choking on the explode() line...

php configs look fine, it's parsing at the line breaks fine, my other datafeed, which is comma delimited, works fine...

Any hints on where to look for problems?

ah, OK, I figured out this much...it's a 5MB (or so) file with about 6,700 rows, if I cut it down to 1000 rows it works...which php param would fix an issue like this...the full 5MB DOES upload, just won't parse...

After further investigation I find that the parser chokes up like a cheap whore around 2.5 MB (about 2500 rows)...yet the full file of 5+MB WILl upload, just not parse, so must this be a memory usage issue or something like that?

This parser worked awesome on the old server...
