[RESOLVED] timestamp

I need to generate and insert into my database, the current timestamp, but I cannot find, in any of my searches, the propper coding to generate a numberic timestamp for the mysql timestamp field, format : 0000-00-00 00:00:00 . I really would appreciate a direct response, because the manual and other places are very confusing on the exact format of this.

Thank you esukf, that was the exact format I needed. I could not find this anywhere, everything just referred to a vague [timestamp], but did not show the propper format. One last question though, how does one compare that logged timestamp, with the current one, to see if, for example, 15 minites have passed?

INSERT INTO table (timestamp) values (CURRENT_TIMESTAMP());

But how does one make a comparison in the script, to determine if a certain time has passed?

Thanks for the help. I was able to get it all working using what you posted, and I was able to modify to fit my needs. I also learned how the function works, I didn't just copy and paste your code. I analyzed what you posted, and wrote script using your info, modified to fit what I needed. I really like to learn what I am doing rather than just finding canned scripts, but sometimes its hard to find the propper documentation that tells you how something should be syntaxed.
