Editor PHP Designer 2006

After reading the thread about editors, I D'led PHP designer 2006.

The first thing it did was ask me if I wanted to DL and install Apache with Mysql, PHP and PERL from apachefriends.org inorder to take full advantage of the preview function of the PH interpreter.

I haven't done it yet. Should I? Do I need it? I just want a full featured editor. This one seemed to have decent reviews everywhere I looked.

What exactly is the "PHP interpreter"? is that specific to this editor, or is it some globally available part of PHP?

It's the thing called "PHP" that you downloaded.

I downloaded the editor, but not php. I'm using my webservice provider since there's a mySQL database there all set up, a whole directory structure to use, so I can basically upload files for testing and have access to them where ever I go. I travel too much, so it's easier to do stuff on line. Otherwise I'd have stuff on three different computers.
