sql problems!!!

Please help! I am working on a new dedicated server running php5 and mysql 5, on a Linux/apachi platform... Sql is working fine, PHP seems to be working okay...

the problem I am having is trying to connect to the SQL db... my scripts just seem to stop as soon as I try to connect.

Now, when I try to connect from a different server I have setup, I can connect perfectly...

I am at a loss... I don't know what to do! PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you done any error checking? eg;

$db = mysql_connect($db,$host,$pass) or die(mysql_error());

I have tried, but the script just dies, no errors, no warning nothing... it just stops...I try the "or die" and it doesn't even give me the message in the "or die" statement...

I have tried it on other servers and it turns out that the DB works fine from other servers...

I think it is a PHP configuration issue, but I don't know what is causing it or where to look...
