search site

hi again..

i need to build a search site for my website which has HTML pages and php pages, but i have no idea how can i start with.

i've noticed the use of web crawler n been told that it just suit for fully HTML website.
so, what is the best idea to create a search function for my website?? if anyone could help me figure this things out...

maybe you can download your site ( using sth. like wget -r ) or scan all files with php and save them

afterwards you can do some preg_matches on that files ...

i've tried to search on preg_match and yet still keep on searching it, but still have no clue how can i start to create the search from it. if you can give me some ideas or references it really much appreciated..

its a thing about patterns, for a start...
if you want a web-crawler, that goes thru all your sites you need to find the links on a page

typical link on a page :

...............:<a href="http://www.something.com/index.php?dhjkfhkadgfhj">link</a>
Important:               -------------------------------------------------

pattern for that would be :
its starting with "a href" and i need all that is between the "....",
#a href="(.*)"#
you need the () to define what to keep or what to change
the fun starts with this ...a title="" href=""
...
i think regular expressions are on the best thing ever invented, you should really try it out ....
