Am I missing out on the big php SECRET?

I have googled and searched forums for the last two hours. I have found tons of people asking this question - all with no answer. Am I missing something? Is this a big secret that i'm not supposed to find out about?

My question is...

How do I change the php.ini file to ENABLE Virtual Directory Support?

Anyone... Please?

More than likely, yep. Check your Apache config.

Thanks... I'm on a shared hosting server though - I don't think I can change the apache config.

Most Apache settings, and some php.ini settings can be set with an Apache .htaccess file, which live in the virtual host directory.

All the shared web hosts I've dealt with have offered some kind of control panel where you can configure virtual hosts/directories.
