[RESOLVED] Need to back-up data for EACH MySQL INSERT. Suggestions?

Hi, everyone,

I'm building a fully-featured e-commerce site that accepts credit cards and the whole bit. I've searched this forum and done quite a bit of research, but still have yet to find a solution that really grabs me as far as backing-up my data on a per-transaction basis is concerned.

Basically, I CANNOT afford to lose a single transaction record. Therefore, I need to backup each transaction immediately after it's inserted into the database. What's the best way to do this? I was considering doing a MySQL dump to a g-zipped file with the transaction ID for the file name. Of course, I would also be backing-up the entire database twice daily.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I had not considered replication, but at this point, don't know whether or not a second server will be an option. The idea sounds very promising, though, and I will try to find out more with respect to hardware availability and budget.

Let's assume that I can't have a second server to be used for replication. The site will be pretty low-volume relative to transaction frequency (probably 15-20 orders per day). Is my original idea of dumping the data associated with each transaction viable? Or is that simply not done?
