Can you run CGI and ISAPI on the same server?

Hi,

I have a web server running Windows Server 2003 SP1 and IIS 6.0.
There is currently a helpdesk application running under the default website using PHP-ISAPI as well as MELL.

When I want to add/migrate a new webite, which is currently running on another server and use PHP-CGI, everything in under my default website does not work anymore.

Can you run CGI and ISAPI on the same server? What can I do to make the two sites run on the same server?

There are a million reasons why migrating a website from one server to another might break it, changing from a server running PHP-CGI to one running PHP-ISAPI is not one of them.

In fact, this is how you can have both PHP4 and PHP5 installed on the same webserver - one is an ISAPI filter, one is parsed as a CGI binary.

Just out of interest, can you think of anything that works under PHP-CGI which cannot be made to work under PHP-ISAPI ?

I know of circumstances that require PHP-ISAPI which don't work under PHP-CGI but not the reverse way round.

How do I go about running php in the two modes? Do I have to change the file extentions?

I know such thing. This is Mapserver with PHP/Mapscript. There must be PHP-CGI, because Mapserver is not thread-safe.
