PEAR installation: The requested URL .. was not found on this server

I'm trying to install PEAR on my shared host (using "The traditional way of installing a local copy of PEAR through ftp").

With a few errors I've now got to the place (70%, 100%) where it tells me this:
"The requested URL /viewcvs.cgi/checkout/pear-core/PEAR.php was not found on this server."

What do I do here, can anyone tell me, please?
