[RESOLVED] How to code a chat ???

Hi,

i'm trying to make a chat linked to some profiles.
The website is totally in php but I don't know how to start making a chat.
I wouldn't be a chat with a main area to chat, you would just be able to send
messages directly to the users.

I was thinking of making tables when they log in where their messages can be put in
I would like to make it in flash or java (read some tutorials on .jsp but I don't get that yet).

Does anybody know a good way to access php and mysql in flash(actionscript)?
or any tutorials on making a webbased chat. (java, flash or php)

I really need to make this but don't know where to start (looking)

Head on over to www.flash-db.com or www.sephiroth.it or www.ultrashock.com for help with Flash remoting. You may want to look into something called AMFPHP as a resource to use.

Jorge Solis over at Flash-DB wrote a couple good articles on doing this, and if you look in their code library, you may find just what you're looking for 😉 Now that I think about it, they do have a couple: Private Chat with FlashCom but that would be your best bet probably....

thanks for responding. I'll check them out. 🙂
It wasn't so easy to find an example that shows the basics.
Most of them were more advanced and i like to program to more advanced stuff myself.
I just needed something to get the basics.
