[RESOLVED] Help with max and array keys

Hi I was wondering if someone could please help me here, this should be pretty easy but I for some reason my brain is fried.

I am trying to find the key value of the largest number in a array. so basically if my array is

$thing = array (3, 4, 5,10, 1) I would like to return 3, I figure I need to use Max and Key values, can someone please point me in the right direction?

So how about you sort it, and grab the first value.... ?

[man]arsort/man;

arsort($thing);
$i=0;
foreach($thing AS $key=>$val)
{
  if($i==0)
    $theKey = $key;
  else
    break;
}

echo 'Highest key is: ' . $theKey;

Something like that perhaps?

$key_of_max = array_search(max(array_values($array)), $array);
