For a couple of years now I've always felt frustrated in some ways that there is so much money to be made but have never actually tried to create something to earn it. Things like milliondollarhomepage, friends re-united, ebay, glassesdirect.com have all earned millions for the owners for simple ideas that took off.
Does anyone here own/started their own business/website on the side and made a profit no matter how little?
Some ideas I've thought about are very cliche'd and already exist:
Online community/Dating website. Starting with freesign ups it would specifically target an area of the country, e.g. a specific county. After a while, small charge could be made. Also could double up as a friends-online community in the local area and eventually lead to advertising events for get togethers. Like a social network thing. Maybe I could charge the poeple advertising, the businesses and events organisers rather than the actual community?
Video/image hosting - not really serious about this. Far too much competition, little rewards for a lot of hassle.
Awww, there were other ideas but my mind has gone blank. I'll post them when I remember what they were!!!
