Has anyone had a problem with PHPbb where users don't seem to stay logged in?? For example, a user types in their login information correctly but when the page reloads they still aren't logged in.

This seems to happen on a regular basis and is causing posts to be left with the author as 'Guest'. This leads to my second question...Is there a way to disable people from being able to post as guests?? It seems there should be but I can't find it in the admin or in any of the documentation, etc.

By the way... the site is LetsTalkRE.net.

Thanks,

I would say that it is possible that you are either missing some tables in your database or you have not repaired or optimised them, the best place for you to ask about these problems would be at the authors site itself, although there are users here that in fact use phpBB2 this is not necessarily the correct place for those problems, whereas phpBB2 main site IS.

I posted the same question in their support forum as well but haven't yet recieved an answer....I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here as well.

I doubt that their is anything wrong with the tables because the installation is almost brand new. I could be wrong though.

      Thanks,

There are other forums on that site which may if you searched for the problem you are having on that site you would probably come up with a few hits of posts that have already been made. Since this is a recent install that would be all the more reason to ensure that you have all the tables required.

phpBB2 has 30 tables on a standard intall (latest version) with no MODs and I have never had any problems as you are speaking of , but I use PHP-Nuke with a ported version of phpBB2 and have not had such problems with it. I have had a false start on one install where my sql was incomplete and had problems logging in as Admin. I deropped all my tables and reinstalled my databse tables and cleared it up. It is possible you have an incomplete or corrupted install.

It was cookie settings problem....and the guest thing is because you have to go into the settings for each forum and set it so that registered users only can post.

Here is the thread at phpbb.com.

          Thanks....

Glad you found the solution. And yes I remember setting all forums just last week for registered users only to post or reply after an abusive anonymous user starting posting garbage on my site, so now only registered users can post. I have about 25 forums on my site so it took a little while.

Yea...24 in my case...it seem they could have an option to set them all at once. Oh well, maybe on the next release.
