login problems

I'm having trouble logging in to my site on several separate user login names, including my own to the admin panel.

How do I approach a trouble shoot on this problem? It was working fine yesterday, and has been working fine for months.

any tips on this would be great. i've had a very stable site so far, this is the first time I've ever had problems. it is a straight forward php logon form, tied to a mysql database.

Well since it has been working the first and most logical checks before doing any actual testing are:

Check with host to see if there was a PHP Upgrade
Check with host to see if there were any PHP configuration changes
Check with host to see if there were any DB Upgrades (MySQL)

If its no to all 3 you may want to put

error_reporting( E_ALL );

at the top of the files to see if there are any errors, although this would kind of suggest that there was some change somewhere along the line.

yes that is a help and thank you very much. I will contact the provider to see what they can say, and try the error code on the weekends (business site)

You might want to run a table repair through phpMyAdmin and also optimize all tables, it is possible you might have a corrupted table concerning you admin. It could be something as simple as that.
