I need to know what øåú&i is

I recieved a MySql db (4.1) with fields in Hebrew.
When the db was built, the Hebrew fields got in like that: øåú&i

How can I return them to the correct encoding/format? (in the db, preferably without php).

Try this: SET CHARACTER SET utf8;
